The Construction Academy is a beginning construction course (3 periods) that will provide student the chance to start learning about the construction industry through hands on modules and small individual projects. Students will be using the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) curriculum to obtain national certifications in the construction industry. All NCCER certifications have a written and performance test. Students must score 70% on all written test in order to be certified in each area and complete a total of 150 hours of class time. Performance tests are pass/fail. Some of the woodworking projects they we will be doing throughout the year include building a carpenters tool tote, cutting boards, and table with matching chair (subject to change). Students will also be involved in community service projects. Building rocking toys during Christmas for the needy and construing dog houses for the humane society.
